5 simple ways to jump start your health

Summer is here!

Well, it is just around the corner any way... are you ready?

So many people talk all year long about how this year will be different. They will get their health in order, make the right choices, do the work, get healthy. Only to find themselves at the end of May a few pounds heavier than when they started. Why? It is an uphill battle. More than ever people are eating high processed, non-food items, because of the "low calorie" lie. The fact is our bodies do not know what to do with these ingredients and it leads to cravings, obesity, bloating, headaches, fibromyalgia, gluten-intolerance, depression and anxiety.... which leads to more eating and less body movement. We are losing the battle folks.

I believe if everyone has accountability, support, motivation, meal plans, and a whole lot of love, they can do it. I am seeing success all over the U.S. right now and I have a fire in my belly to PUSH hard to end this trend.

I wanted to share with you 5 simple steps to start you on your road to health:

1. Clean out the gunk I like to use the analogy of a car engine here. If you have been filling your engine with cheap crap, build up starts to happen. The engine eventually fails and well... you gotta start over. Our bodies are the same. You can try to do a messy cleanse on your own, or we have a 3 day one that I am on right now that is amazing. It clears you out and gets you ready for your fresh start. You get to eat on it too. It is $59 and I can't tell you how many times I have done it. Safe for once a month if needed.
Day one dinner on the 3 day refresh.

2
Avoid junk foods which make us lethargic and dull. It always always always starts with what you eat. It is 80% diet and 20% exercise that is going to get you to your goals. You are what you eat so don't be cheap, fake, or easy.
3. Consume a healthy diet, such as vegetables, fruits, fish, nuts, good proteins. Don't forget to intake 8 glasses of liquid. Take your daily dose of dense nutrition (shakeology) Avoid refined and junk foods. The main source for poor health and sickness is improper healthy eating habits. Many people suffer from sickness like diabetes, cancer, obesity and etc because of this. Changing your bad diet will contribute a great difference within a short period and can improve your health benefits drastically.  If you need nutritional guidance I have a great program called the 21 day fix that breaks down this process into easy containers. Just email me!

4. Exercise 30 minutes 5 days a week. Exercising in the morning can leave you with a refreshed feeling throughout the day and can put you in a good mental health and it will be easier for you to think positively and generate a better appetite. I know you "hate exercise" i hear it daily. 30 minutes a day can change your life. I have so many programs that are FUN from hip hop dance style to hardcore weightlifing... all can be done in the comfort of your home. Just ask!

5. Realize that positive thinking is very essential in order to be healthy. Clear out your mind of all negative thoughts and fill it with positive ones. These positive thoughts can be extremely energizing and always lead to good things in life. You can get involved in practices such as meditation and yoga to get rid of the negativity and force yourself with positive thoughts. Watch "The Secret" and learn how YOU are creating your own future.

Don't forget we have so many programs to help you along the way. We have love, support, accountability and motivation. Join #TeamNourish and feel the love. :) If you are ready to give it a go, I have a FREE 10 day sugar free group starting on Monday. Just drop me an email and I will add you!
Email me to get in, it's free!
With only 2 days left in May, Here are last minute deals to grab before they end! If you are interested in saving TONS of money (Like getting your PiYo for just $10) then email me please! momwhatsfordinner@yahoo.com BEFORE May 1st so I can get you in on the sale!

My favorite multi-purpose legging

I am a pretty well rounded gal. I like the beach and the mountains. I love the water, and I love the sand. I love my yoga, and get high off a good cardio session. So what is a girl to do? My solution was Luna Jai. Their capri's are multi-functional. Suitable for the beach, the gym, the yoga studio, and suitable for the pool.

What I love the most about these capri's is that I can go from a hardcore insanity max 30 workout to a vigorous vinyasa class without having to change. I have a lot of nice yoga pants, but if you are jumping up and down hardcore with Shaun T, they don't stay on. Gravity takes over and you are constantly pulling them up. Not with Luna Jai. I like that I don't have to think about anything but my workout when I am wearing them.

My other favorite thing about Luna Jai is their bright colors and patterns. I love to express myself with color. Before my yoga days my Mom used to always say I wore black. Can't say that about me anymore! I love wearing them. The colors make me happy.

Best part? If you want them, you can get them %15 off with code: momwhatsfordinner at checkout.

I run many challenges hosted by Luna Jai check them out on Instagram @lunajaiathletic

Organic and Non-Gmo... no problem!

Today I want to give a huge shout out to Jimbo's Naturally. They recently sponsored Nourish the Workshop and helped us provide Parents and Kids with a wholesome meal at our yoga and nutrition workshop.
I decided to take a longer time than usual during this visit to Jimbo's so I could show you why they are so great.
So let's go in shall we?

If you follow me, you know my passion is all about ending the trend of obesity in this nation. I believe it is 80% nutrition and 20% exercise that will do it. Fueling your body with wholesome whole foods that are non-gmo and organic is the first step to a healthy life. That is why Jimbo's is so awesome. They strive to have a non-gmo store and do their best to label accordingly so you are always educated about what is in your food. Even though I try to stay away from packaged food as much as possible. There are some healthy ones out there like my favorite brown rice cakes that are a great go-to for lunches and snacks. So happy they are non-gmo and organic!

The produce at jimbo's is amazing. I could spend all day in that section. Oh the possiblities!!! Thank you Jimbo's for having nothing but the best!
What I am holding here is a daikon and it is one of my go-to veggies for kids. Why? Because you can make cute shapes out of them, and they are pretty much tasteless. Which means they adapt to whatever flavor you dip them in. I serve these cute skewers with my greek yogurt ranch dip and the kids go crazy.
Teaching the next generation about wholesome food is the only way we can break the cycle. Getting them to learn healthy food is yummy and fun is so important!!! Many of these kids had never had a daikon before. It is like a cross between a radish and a carrot. Texture of a radish, with a bland flavor like a carrot.

With all this amazing produce donated by Jimbo's
I was able to teach the parents how to make healthy fun food for their kids, while they enjoyed a fun yoga class from Heather Foat! She played yoga bingo with them and got some of their energy out while I met with the parents.

The parents got to ask me questions and create something fun!
So their kids came out of class with a full fun plate of healthy food to eat!

I want to extend much love and gratitude to Jimbos' Naturally for supporting our cause to bring movement and nutrition to EVERYONE!

The Ultimate Cleanse and Detox in 21 days

Hi friends and family and followers! You all know my heart... ...the more I think about the food that we eat, the more it fuels my passion to want to serve anyone and everyone who wants to work towards feeling the healthiest and happiest they can! You all know I am#FedUp  and have a passion to #EndTheTrend  of#obesity.

I learned the hard way there are foods that just pull away from my body and mind feeling good--or even RIGHT, and the sad truth is, they can end your life.

No more! It's time for a change....a complete paradigm shift in the way that we eat and think about the food that we consume. By way of the Ultimate Reset! A 21 day detox that focuses on WHAT we eat to nourish and fuel our bodies with daily. Over the course of three weeks it progressively gets more strict and eliminates those foods that build up toxins in our body. It includes supplements to revitalize our system and a full cooking guide. No starvation or liquid only!! I SAID NO STARVATION!!!! Yep, you eat your way through this.

Honestly, you already know in YOUR heart if you need a change or not. It's evident in the way your body feels. You have seen my journey and know how far I fell off the healthy way of living. Since I have changed my life and way of thinking  and really focus on getting HEALTHY and resetting my ENTIRE body. I have NEVER felt better!

Here is the clincher... NO EXERCISE!  For some this is good, for others this is bad. It is hard for me to give up exercise, but it is the perfect way to ease into a healthy life if you are someone who has been dormant for a while.
I can promise this will crush your sugar and dairy addictions, and you WILL lose weight! Not to mention it has helped people get off their anti-depressants, finally curing insomnia, fibromyalgia,  IBS, lethargy AND cutting insulin intake by half*!!!

If you:

Struggle w/ Fatigue

Experience "Brain Fog"

Anxiety and/or Depression

Digestive Issues

Have Undergone IVF or Chemo

High Blood Pressure/Cholesterol

Sugar Addiction

Caffeine Dependency

Consume Excess Artificial Sweeteners/Processed Foods

Have A Nice Spare Tire

Dependent On Prescription Drugs

NEED A CHANGE!

Does this sound like you? Join small our group of committed people (ready to feel amazing like you) and kick off Spring with a clean slate and a FRESH START. Comment below with a 'TELL ME MORE'  or just private message me (momwhatsfordinner@yahoo.com) and I will connect you with the info you need to gain an invaluable education on how to FUEL your body for LIFE.

What the Ultimate Reset is NOT:

-> A starvation diet.
-> An abrupt cleanse that's hard on the body.
-> A laxative-based, colon-focused cleanse, which fails to truly detoxify the whole body.
*While following the meal plan provided BUT modifying for appropriate amounts of proteins and other nutrients!

Contact me today so we can get your kits to you in time!!!

Let's End the trend of obesity in this nation

How can I help others and expect others to get vulnerable with me, if I am not willing to share my weaknesses?

On the left I was miserable. I was 6 weeks post cancer. I actually had just returned from my first yoga class ever and my daughter made me take the picture. She said one day I would be glad I had it. She knew I had begun my fight for my life back. So while I don't like the way I look, I am proud to have that picture. That is what I fought back from. ONE STEP AT A TIME.

On the right is me today. Just a few minutes ago. Still not happy to have the picture taken, and still my daughter is saying: "you will be glad you did!" So I am baring my soul to you today.

Please don't wait. I am not done, and I will never ever ever be done because no matter what excuses you are telling yourself, I can promise you there is so much life and happiness on the other side of it. Yes there were times it was hard. Yes there are times I fail and take a mis-step. I am not perfect, but I have found the solution that works. Accountability, Motivation, Education and Support.

I am working for abs this year and I know it will happen. But this is me a 41 year old cancer survivor... don't tell me you can't do it. I know better.

If you are on the left. Please contact me in private momwhatsfordinner@yahoo.com I can help you change your life. I am not going to force products on you. Many of my solutions are free. My services are free. Let me know how I can help you today. Let's #endTheTrend of obesity in this nation!

Nourish the workshop

After my cancer, I drastically changed my life. From the way I ate to the way I thought. I was schooled quickly on what hurts your body and what heals it. So I took the steps daily to change and I wrote down all I learned along the way. My vision is to #EndTheTrend of #obesity #cancer and #diabetes  in this country. The result is what I consider to be my best work ever. My book; Nourish - the beginner's guide to eating healthy and staying fit. It comes out in April and we are touring the states doing a #yoga  and #nutrition workshop in #yogastudios  around the country.

We have just begun booking! I need your help! Please hop on over to our page (link is in bio or nourishtheworkshop.com) and let us know which studio's you want us at!!! Or email me your studio. We have limited stops we can make so we need to know ahead of time. We will be coming June through August 2015

About the #workshop: This unique workshop is a collaboration between Author and 200 Hour Yoga Certified Instructor Christi Silbaugh, and 200 Hour Yoga Certified Instructor Heather Foat.   Participate in a class that will be sparked with #creativity and be infused with food for thought; courageously checking-in within to see how well you’ve been nourishing yourself.  After practice, Christi will provide a demo making a healthy snack for you to enjoy in very little time and requires little money. Be informed and leave with a weeks worth of recipes, grocery lists and #yogamoves to step out as a new you. Are you ready to change your life and get #healthy?

Pay it forward

Hi guys!
It has almost been a year since I fought and won my battle with Cancer.
(Cancer free since August 6th 2013!)
Over this past year I have grown leaps and bounds and really given a lot of thought to my life and what my purpose is. I have decided it is to help others as much as possible with their fight with cancer, health, and nutrition. My career will always be writing and cooking, but I also want to donate 40 hours of my time each month to helping those with cancer, or recovering from cancer. The problem is, I need your help!

Please share with others who want to pay it forward. You can see my full bio here: http://www.gofundme.com/bzoin0

Hi! My name is Christi and I am a cancer survivor. I have been cancer free since August 6th of 2013. Having a softball sized malignant tumor removed from my uterus, and living with that tumor for so long, caused me to lose my muscle mass, my drive, my passion. But I am a fighter! I told my doctor I wanted my life back and he recommended yoga.

I remember the day I walked a half a mile to a little studio I had heard positive things about. I was so nervous. I had never done an official yoga pose in my life. I was self proclaimed: "NOT FLEXIBLE" I went anyway. I wanted my life back.

That first class was not an "aha" moment. Turns out I accidentally went to an advanced class. I barely made it out alive. I thought: "What am I thinking? I am not strong enough". I went back anyway. It took 2 weeks for me to fall in love with yoga. It changed every aspect of my life. I grew in my relationship with my savior, and I learned so much about myself. Yoga is now a permanent part of me. I can fast forward to now, where my cancer weight is gone, I am healthy, cancer free, and much more flexible than I ever thought. But what I really want to do, is get down to why I want to now teach.

Actually, I do not want to just go to a traditional studio and teach. I want to offer my services to cancer patients, and cancer survivors for free. I want to donate my time, I just need the certificate to do so.

Folks let me tell you a little something about cancer patients. They have no money, no life, and very little hope. I am a fully insured patient. Meaning my husband has great health insurance. However after all was said and done, my 90% coverage still left me with a $32,000 bill to pay. I am still paying. The cost of living is very high once you have the cancer mark on you. It leaves very little for a survivor to do. All your money is gone and you are left wanting to live, but not knowing how to get back to life. Once your pathology is clear, the doctors say: "see you for your next test in 3 months!", you will have to pay for that test too. Yes, every 3 months for the rest of your life, you will have the test, and hope that everything comes back ok.

I want to start recovery yoga that is free to any cancer patient, or cancer survivor. The trouble is, I need to get fully certified. I am still paying my $32,000 bill to the hospital in payments, and yoga training is expensive. Most range from $2,500 to $3,500. The program I am looking at is an excelerated teaching plan, and this will just cover tuition.

So what I am asking for are people who want to pay it forward. Do you know that by the year 2050 they estimate one in four people will have cancer? I want to be there for those people FOR FREE! I don't want a money making teaching career. I want to donate my time to help others that are lost from their cancer battle like I was.

I can't offer you reward levels or great prizes for donating. I am simply asking for your help to get trained so I can help others. I believe this is my calling. So I am leaving it up to God. They say you never know if you don't ask, and asking is way way way out of my comfort zone. If this is meant to be, it will happen.

Thank you in advance for even reading this. If you can share it maybe with others that have the same vision I do, that would be tremendous.

I have a book called "NOURISH - The beginners guide to eating healthy and staying fit" coming out next April. I would like to be certified by then so that I can travel and give free workshops to those who struggle with cancer. I want to teach both the nutritional and physical aspect of staying healthy. It begins with what you eat and movement of the body.

Thank you for any help. Even $1 helps!

10 things I think everyone starting yoga should know.

leggings by Fractal 9 Top by Kira Grace

10 things I think everyone starting yoga should know.

1. Yoga is not a religion. Somewhere along the lines of where yoga came from and who practices it, people started to think that it is a religion. While I am sure in some cultures they mix it with their religion, the fact remains that yoga is a way of life, a type of exercise, but not a religion.  Yoga is all about moving your body, finding out who you are, not who the world says you should be. Period.

2. Yoga is not a push til you drop practice. Child's pose is there for a reason. Use it. If you cannot keep your oujjai breath steady and on point, it is time to drop to child's pose and regain your breathing and composure. If you are not breathing correctly, the yoga is not going to do what you need it to. It is okay to drop and meditate and get back on track.

3. I did not lose weight the first month. I was so frustrated. Thankfully I did not join to just lose weight. I started to get my life back from cancer, as a recovery, so I kept going. The second month I lost barely anything, but the third month I dropped 15 lbs. My theory is that those first two months I was developing so much muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. It is working, keep going! After 6 months of yoga practice I lost 30lbs. Remember the first 2 months, almost nothing... but look at me now! Don't stop. Get rid of the scale for the first few months.

4. Get a good mat. I used to roll my eyes at this, thinking that surely there is not much difference in the mats. I was dead wrong. It completely changes your practice to have a mat that is thick and comfortable but most of all grips well. I am partial to Manduka mats. You may think they are spendy, but they have a lifetime warranty and I personally can't find another mat that compares to my EKO mat. I can be dripping with sweat and I still don't budge. Get the mat. Pay the money. You won't be sorry.

5. No one is watching you. Seriously, I used to be so paranoid about how I looked, my gut hanging out, etc... Once you really get involved in yoga you realize it is just you and your mat. Say hi to your neighbor when you get there, and then forget about them until the practice is over. Everyone else is in the same position. Do you have time to watch others? Not really. Close your eyes and dive in. It is just you and your mat. Stop worrying about others. The same goes in life. Everyone else is just a reflection of us anyway, don't you want to find out who YOU are? This is all about you and no one else.

6. When you wake up and are "too sore" to go to yoga.. GO ANYWAY. One of the best things you can do for your soreness is stretch it out. You will learn to crave that soreness. The more you stretch the faster it goes away.

7. Always practice on an empty stomach. It used to be that a good light snack was good before cardio. This is not the case in yoga. You are bending and activating the core so much, it is highly recommended by most that you come to class with an empty stomach and an open mind. There is plenty of time for an amazing post workout meal. You don't want your breakfast to end up on your mat. Bring water, that is all you need.

8. Take pictures. I know a lot of you will never post any, and that is totally fine. I have found that when I am down on my practice or get discouraged, I look at old pictures and compare with current ones. It will shock you how far you come so quickly. Getting involved in yoga challenges is great because you take pictures of the poses and meet other yogis. Even if you are not a social bee, take the pictures, you will be glad you did. I love laughing at old failures and celebrating new victories.

9. That moment when you are stretching, it is painful, and you want to give up and get out of the pose, give it one more full oujjai breath, breathing into where the pain is. Try to surrender. If you can get past this and just surrender, the pain stops. It is a mind over matter game. Sometimes we win and sometimes we lose, but if you can push past that initial panic and use your breath to calm you down, magic happens and that is where you truly progress. That pain is just you fighting. Surrender.

10. Have fun. This is your journey. It is never over. How exciting that each day it is like we are born again. We get to try all over again with some victories and some failures that we learn from. Treasure your yoga. It is a gift.

Namaste!
-Christi
