Make it for a week before you make it a lifestyle.

Happy Tuesday!

I have taken a long break from daily blogging/writing. Mostly because I write best in solitude. My life changed so much during my cancer recovery, I am such a different person, I rarely have solitude anymore. So the result has been ... less writing. I do love to write and express myself, so I am going to attempt to getting back into daily journaling here, even if it is just a quote or something to ponder.At least Monday - Friday, a girls gotta have breaks and time unlpugged. 🙂

Oh and I plan to use emoji's. I don't care if it isn't "proper" to do so on a blog. Hi, my name is Christi and I am far from proper. I am a freebird. I do my best to be true to my spirit. I strive to be a better me today than I was yesterday, and to give to others what I wish to have. I believe we all hold the power within us to do and be whatever we want. We also hold the chains that keep us from all we want.

This is my daily journey about breaking my chains and living a life by design.

What makes me so excited is that it is the perfect place to start. Often people don't believe they can do it. Or maybe they don't know where to start. Or they join a gym and never see results because no one is guiding them. This will put an end to it. On another note I want to chat you up about my issue with people not believing in themselves.
What is up with that?
I am seriously FLOORED with what I hear every day from people. It is like their spirit light is turned off and they are on automatic pilot. I want to SCREAM: "Wake up!". What is it that drives you? Why are you here? It is NOT to pay bills and die. It is NOT to spend the majority of your life showing up to work for someone else's dreams!!! Time and time again I watch people go to school to be a yoga teacher because it was their dream, only to find them a year later hating life because they spend all their time driving from studio to studio barely making ends meet... and their love for yoga starts to fizzle. I see the same in all professions.

Why not side hustle? Why not pursue your OWN company while you do the grunt work for someone else. It will never cease to amaze me that people will give 8 hours of their life to someone else but can't show up for their own dreams.

My transformation can lead to your transformation


Since it is #ThrowbackThursday and I have a few hundred new followers I thought it was time to share with you all my starting point.
On the left is 4 years ago. I was 65 pounds heavier, looked a LOT older, was very unhappy, uncomfortable, and 6 weeks prior had a fe#Cancer tumors removed from my body. I was riddled with guilt and shame and surrounded by toxic "friends". I made a decision. I was worth fighting for. I told my family and everyone who would listen that I was never looking back. I would reclaim my health and happiness. So my daughter Taylor Ann Moufaddal forced me to stand there while she took my "before" picture. I refused at first but she said I would be so happy later when I looked back and could see how far I have come, and she was SO RIGHT!
I lost friends along the way, but they were not the kind of people that were going to help encourage and love me. I can pretty much guarantee they are all still right where they were or further down the path of destruction. I knew in order to change my life, I had to change both who I hung around, and my daily habits. So set forth and found a solution I could stick with. A permanent lifestyle change.
So here I am today on the right. Modeling for an active wear company. 65 pounds lighter, looking a LOT younger even though I am 4 years older, I am SO comfortable in my own skin, #CancerFree , and helping thousands overcome the same issues I used to have. The people that surround me lift me up with positivity, love and SUPPORT !

Start by starting

Three years ago I had just been given my 6 week Post Operation clearance to start light yoga. I had never done yoga before, but I was desperate to get my life back. My cancer in my uterus had made me grow to look 6 months pregnant. I had put on 65 pounds. I was so unhappy too. I was ready to change my life. 

So I walked down to this local yoga studio I had walked by every day and decided to go in and give it a shot. My first class was an accidental level 2 vinyasa and I about died. But there was a girl in the front who stood on her head and it really intrigued me. So I went home and decided I would one day stand on my head like her. It only took a couple weeks of practice and I was inverting, but it wasn't pretty.

I knew I needed to get stronger and to shed the weight that #Cancer had put on my body. So I did. I committed to working out 30 minutes along with diving into my yoga practice.

I tell you this because SO MANY people come to me and say they "wish" they could get healthy. They "wish" they could do headstands on paddle boards, they "wish" they were strong like me.

EVERYONE has it in them, you just have to START and align yourself with like minded people that can HELP you. This journey is not something that should be done alone. Why? Because you are your worst enemy. If you don't have a posse in your corner speaking life into you and killing your excuses, you will fail over and over again. The ones who try to do it alone are usually the ones that are so used to quitting, they are scared to commit to a group because they KNOW they will be held accountable.

Confessions of an extrovert..... I'm really an introvert.

It is true.
I am an introvert.
From my life on social media you probably would never guess.
I can be very extroverted with my tribe, but only my tribe. In fact there was a time that I had to have anti-anxiety drugs and wine before I went into social situations. That was before I learned the power our minds have and how to control it, but it did happen nonetheless.

I am sharing this with you because I know what a prison it can feel like. I mean I WANT to go to the party... but getting my mind and body to get me there is another story. Can you relate?
It isn't that I don't want to be social, it just really shuts me down... or it did.

Until I learned a little secret.

It wasn't me it was them. Them being the people I was hanging around. They weren't my people, so I had to send my representative out into the world to try to be who they needed or wanted me to be, which of course never worked. It was a vicious cycle, and one I had no idea I was in, let alone how to get out of it.

Then I got sick with cancer and my whole world changed.
I woke up.

Plain and simple... life is too damn short to try to be someone you aren't. Those quotes that go around the internet daily saying "you are the sum of the people you hang around" are beyond true. One day I saw that quote and looked at who I had spent the prior 10 years of my life with. I took inventory.

I was surprised to realize I had to clean house. Most of the people were miserable and unhappy so they spent their time talking about how other people were living their lives wrong. I remember sitting in a conversation after my cancer with some friends and realizing how miserable and unhappy everyone was. The whining and complaining and finger pointing was just too much.

I haven't seen those friends since.... haven't had any anxiety pills since either.

I made a list of everything I wanted to be, and I started looking for those type of people.
I made a list of everything I liked to do, and I started doing those things.
Next thing I knew I had an entire new group of uplifting friends that liked all the same things I do!

It came down to one decision. I didn't "break up" with any friends or have any falling out... I simply invested my time in those that invested in themselves. Cuz we treat others how we treat ourselves, and that is a fact. So I decided to treat myself the way I wanted to be treated, and when I interact with others, I give them what I want. Love and acceptance. That is all that is welcomed here. I don't care your age, race, weight, or gender... I care that you want to be a better you.

How I changed my life with The Shift Shop

If you have not yet heard about the HOTTEST new workout coming out this July by Chris Downing and Beachbody... get ready!


I was so blessed to be asked by Corporate to participate in an exclusive elite coach test group for the Shift Shop. I jumped (literally) at the opportunity. I was scared and intimidated, but knew that meant I had to go for it. When fear creeps in, I let it be my compass. I am so thankful I listened to my soul and gave it all I got. We got to work every day with Chris (the creator). He went live with us, sent us videos, encouraging messages, and was an amazing coach and motivator.

This experience was life changing. It was a lot like when I went through my 200 hour yoga teacher training. The right grind gives you the right growth and boy did I grow.

I was blessed to have my whole family commit with me to this process.
So what did this commitment entail?

Shift Shop rule #1: Food is fuel.
We committed to following the meal plan that shifts each week. As your workouts ramp up, the carbs are reduced. By week 3 you have transitioned to a Low Carb High Protein diet. The program is an unlimited veggie program. So you are never hungry. Honestly it was a LOT of food. It is also a grain free program. I thought I would miss my bread and grains, but I was so full all the time I never craved it. Remembering this is a program for 21 days helps too. It is a program to shift your digestive system in the right direction and get your body moving like the machine it is. We had NO PROBLEM following the meal plan. We prepped 2 times a week and that was it. I found I had a lot more free-time because I usually cook every day. The meals were simple and tasty.

Here are a few examples of what we ate:










The next thing we committed to was pushing play on the workouts. Week 1 they are 25 minutes long. You alternate speed 25 and strength 25, with adding core to strength days. Core is an additional 14 minutes. Week 2 they ramp up to 35 minutes with the same alternating structure. Week 3 they are 45 minutes. There is an optional round 2 of this program that we also did where the workouts ramp up to 50 minutes.

Honestly.... I spend much more time than that watching other people live on TV so there was no excuse not to show up. The workouts are challenging in a GREAT way. Chris motivates you at all the right times and challenges you to use your spirit when your body gives up. I felt empowered and strong.

This was truly a blessing I will be forever grateful for. We finished strong. We did not cheat on our meal plan once. We did not miss a workout. So ya wanna see me and my families results?

I am continuing to work with Chris in the coach test group as he still is talking to us daily and empowering us with motivational videos and working with us through our struggles. I am becoming a better coach because of him.


Shift #3 was our mindset. We teamed up and checked in each day in our online accountability group. Chris gives us daily messages, and in my group... I will also be giving messages along with Chris. So you will have the opportunity to have the same experience I did.

When ENOUGH is ENOUGH its time to take ACTION and change your life permanently

Hey beautiful.
Yep, I am talking to you. 
Right now I want you to STOP the negative self talk and realize how amazing you are. 
So you have dark circles under your eyes, from taking care of EVERYONE else but you. 
SO WHAT your tummy is stretched out from the LIFE you brought into this world. Maybe you haven't had time or money to make it to the hair or nail salon so a messy bun is a constant companion on your head. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL! 

I realize first hand how much of our identity is given up when we decide to have children. I also know Mom's would not change a thing. We give our ALL to those we love. But... I am here to remind you.
YOU GOTTA FIRST LOVE YOURSELF!!!

You have those precious eyes watching. What do you want to teach them?

Self defeat?

It is a humbling experience to become a mom and no one quite prepares you for that. I know what it is like to have a tummy that feels like jello and NO energy to do anything about it. Which led me to just eating comfort food to console my self loathing thoughts.

This is the place I was in 3 years ago. I was fat, sick and nearly dead..

Well maybe not, but I sure felt like it. I was 6 weeks POST operation for the removal of 3 cancer tumors in my body. My tummy had been sliced open 8 inches for the biggest tumor to be removed which REALLY did a number on my self esteem. I looked 6 months pregnant because of the HUGE tumor that was growing in my uterus.  Frustrated, defeated and full of tears I remember laying in bed thinking "THIS IS NOT THE WAY LIFE IS SUPPOSED TO BE!" 

I hated my skin, hated my hair, hated everything about me. I was angry at the world and I KNEW that I didn't want to feel that way any more. NEVER again! I made the decision to give myself the love I needed and wanted. So I could learn to love others and help others stop hating themselves. I never looked back. I didn’t feel good and I had to make a change. I was introduced to yoga, clean eating, and superfoods through my Cancer recover counseling and ended up getting more education in nutrition. I also documented the process and what I learned in my book: Nourish - The beginner's guide to eating healthy and staying fit. 

I fell in love with inversions. Headstand, handstand, pincha, but I could not hold them for long and my alignment was not awesome. I knew I needed more muscle and toning. I had lost 10 lbs just from adding superfoods and yoga into my life and I finally had more energy to add more. So I started adding a 30 minute workout to my life. What happened next...

Over the course of those next 3 months I focused on “ME” for at least 30-45 each day. I would push play for my workout session. I sweated, I cried, I thought I would never change, but then right before my eyes my body started to change. As I embraced clean eating and drank Shakeology daily my skin began to glow, my hair and nails got stronger, and I had more natural energy! I was stronger and I started to have more confidence. WHAT!!!! I was THAT girl who NEVER had EVER Stuck to a fitness program in my life. I always started our the year making a New Years Resolution to get in shape and then I was gone in 2 weeks and stuck paying a membership for the year. I was the girl who would walk into a gym, take some classes and then walk around doing the weights (COMPLETELY WRONG) acting like I knew what I was doing, then I would go make a huge italian dinner with bread and noodles and loads of wine. I had never permanently changed my diet before, but, I liked it! I mean I REALLY liked who I was transforming into, and I LOVED the way my LIFE was changing. 

This is my transformation of 2 rounds 21 day fix and 1 round 21 day fix extreme and Shakeology. Total time 3 months.

Total weight lost from start to finish -65lbs. 
I started running little groups of other women and men that wanted to change their lives too. 
That is when the miracles started rolling in!
My best friend Penny has lost OVER 100 pounds so far!

My daughter lost 35 pounds!

And that was just the beginning! As of now I personally have been able to help HUNDREDS of people reach their goals. I also started a team that is joining forces with me and we all work together to help people as much as we can. 

My inversions sure changed too!!!

I can say that because of my team, the support of the challenge groups and the other women in the group I truly have found a way to love the skin that I am in! 


We all have imperfections.  I earned my imperfections and I learned to love them! They are a part of who I am. Does this speak right to your heart??? Then maybe its time for you to trust me and finally take that leap of faith and join my next challenge group!

So now, my job as a coach is to pay it forward. I am going to be launching a specific accountability and support group that is geared towards matching you up and with a fitness program and nutrition guide to meet your needs but to walk you through the process of changing your unhealthy habits, creating a more positive mindset, embracing your imperfections and chucking the word diet to the wind. We are not dieting, we are creating a healthy lifestyle. Because we are supposed to be ABUNDANT in ALL areas of our lives. 

So STOP making excuses and make a DECISION to change instead. I promise you will work just as hard on your excuses that you will on effort towards your goals. So why not work toward the POSITIVE?

What Do I Need For This Group?
-Each participant is required to have me as their coach. You can create an account here. 

-You are required to do a fitness program, which I will help you to pick the one that best fits your needs. EMAIL ME to tell me you want in we will go over your needs, your current struggles and then decide the program for you.

-You are required to replace 1 meal a day with Shakeology for the duration of the 5 weeks because as I am teaching you how to change your eating habits and give you the tools to make this a lifestyle change we want to have at least 1 meal each day that is quick and easy but isn’t lacking in your nutritional quality. Shakeology does that! It is my saving grace because quite honestly there are days that I am so busy that I don’t have time to make a balanced meal so this is my go to!! It has EVERYTHING your body needs, and is superfoods! Plus it really does taste awesome!

–You are required to log into our closed My Challenge Tracker App daily where I am going to share tips, recipes, meal plans, tips to handle eating out, and emotional eating plus improving your body image. We will truly take your journey one day at a time! I have been through the process and I know at what point you want to throw in the towel, I know when you hit plateaus and what situations tend to trip you up. I have tools and tips for all of those. There is no more trying to navigate this change on your own. We are working at this together.

–My goal is to get you a program that you are excited about and that you start and complete it. I do not want it to be something that sits on your shelf and collects dust!

Healthy Sweet Potato Nachos - dairy free option




EVERYTHING on this plate is dairy free, with the exception of my Greek yogurt. Thankfully my body processes that wonderfully. 

Everything on here is actually really healthy for me!
Sweet Potatoes
Coconut Oil
Sea salt
Garlic
Chicken
Tomato
Avocado
onion

Cheese made from almond and rice. 


HEALTHY nacho's that HIT THE SPOT!
So let me tell you about the cheese!
They have ZERO trans fats and are made from nuts, or rice. 
AND... everything is CERTIFIED organic.
They know a way to my heart. 

You can use a spicier Jalapeno Jack 

-or-
you can use a nice cheddar!

I got both of mine from Lisanatti foods
To make the sweet potato nachos...

3 large sweet potatoes, washed and sliced into 1/4-inch rounds
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1 cup black beans, drained and rinsed
1/4 cup chopped green onions
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
1 large avocado, pit removed and diced
Sour cream or Greek yogurt

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Place the sweet potato rounds on a large baking sheet. You might need two baking sheets if you run out of room. You don’t want to overcrowd the sweet potatoes. Toss the sweet potatoes in olive oil and season with sea salt and pepper. Bake for 20 minutes. Use a spatula to flip the sweet potato rounds. Bake for an additional 10 minutes or until sweet potatoes are crisp.
Remove the pan from the oven and sprinkle cheese Bake until cheese is melted, about 5-7 minutes.
Remove pan from oven and top with all your favorite toppings. I used cooked chicken, avocado, red onion, tomato, greek yogurt. and it was SO YUM! 


As you can see the alternative cheese shreds and melts perfectly. I am thrilled, happy and full.
