Naturally to your door

Today I am excited to tell you about Naturally to your door! This is NOT a sponsored post. I am simply so delighted with the quality and service of this company I had to share it with you.

I was heading out to the grocery store today to pick up some fresh fish and when I opened my door I was so happy to see my produce delivery!!!
This being my first time ordering, I was blown away by the high quality of produce they had picked for me. I had picked out what I wanted, but they made sure everything I received was top notch! Let me explain to you how this process works.

Naturally brings the healthiest and freshest quality produce directly to your door. They get the produce from certified organic, local San Diego County farms. They steer clear of anything that was grown with pesticides and chemical fertilizers and NEVER will include any produce in your box or on our list that was conventionally farmed.

Membership: Becoming a member with them gives you access to purchase from their weekly list of available produce on the webstore. When you sign up they keep your delivery address and payment information on file for your convenience. There are no membership or start up fees and no commitments. You can purchase from the webstore anytime you like or subscribe to a set box for a discount.

On Fridays Naturally to your door contacts local farms to see what's fresh and available. Then they send out a newsletter Friday at 7PM alerting everyone what is available this week.

On the "Order" page you'll find their"weekly list" of local organic fruits, vegetables and natural products. You have until Monday 11PM to place your order. On Thursdays and Fridays we will deliver your box of fresh organic fruits and vegetables between 7:30AM - 4PM.

TWO OPTIONS to order:
Choose your own: Order whenever you like, order a "set box" or customize your own box.
-or-
Subscribe: Weekly or biweekly deliveries of your choice of our "set boxes" - at a discount. You can add on to your box whenever you like.

Because I have a lot of specific things I need to cook for clients, I chose my own produce and I also picked up one thing of raw honey because I was out.

Here is what I ordered:
Baby bok choy

1 local raw mountain sage honey (you don't have to order non produce items, but I was out of honey)

1 bunch Cilantro

1 bunch Basil - look how huge the leaves are!!!!

1 bunch Carrots

1 bunch arugala

1 Napa Cabbage

1 Red or Green Bibb Lettuce

1 basket Strawberries

1 bunch kale

All the pricing is the same or lower than it is at any local market, plus you are supporting local growers!!! This service is extraordinary!

If you are in the San Diego area or it's suburbs, I highly recommend this service. Go to www.naturallytoyourdoor.com and place your order. Be sure to tell them Christi from Mom, What's For Dinner sent you

Strawberry Vanilla Greek Yogurt Parfait

If you are looking for healthier gluten-free breakfast, lunch, and snack items, then this one is for you. I get stuck in a rut sometimes with my breakfast. I am not a big smoothie fan, so I decided to make one, without blending it and it ended up being an amazing parfait! I use Greek yogurt and stevia to make an extra healthy start to my day.
Strawberry Vanilla Greek Yogurt Parfait
1 cup (8 ounces) nonfat plain greek yogurt
2 teaspoons granulated sugar -or agave nectar -or- 1 tsp stevia for sugar free
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

6 ounces strawberries

Whisk together yogurt, sweetener, and vanilla to make vanilla yogurt. You can also purchase vanilla yogurt but they tend to be high in sugar.
Wash your strawberries, remove the stems and slice into thin slices. I save one strawberry and keep the stem on and garnish the top of the parfait.
Layer your parfait rotating between yogurt and strawberries. It doesn't matter the order.
Repeat to make 4 layers.
Top with one sliced strawberry with the stem on.
Dig in!

Parmesan and Broccoli Orzo

I am back baby! I am pleased to say all the aches, fever and horrendous sore throat have left my body. I have been in complete bliss in my kitchen the past two days and I am eager to bring you a lot of new great recipes.

I was really excited to receive some Lemon Garlic Orzo from JD Gourmet
Wow. This stuff is amazing. I have been wanting to have a gluten-free orzo forever. My hopes and dreams have been answered. This orzo tastes like you would expect a full of gluten orzo to taste like, with a hint of lemon and garlic. Perfect for the following recipe. You can get yours here.

If you are not gluten-free you can use regular Orzo.

Gluten-Free Parmesan and Broccoli Orzo
adapted from Life as a Strawberry

1 package Pastamore gluten free orzo
2 Tbsp. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 green onions, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
salt and pepper to taste
2 tsp. better batter gluten free flour
1 cup milk
1 cup broccoli, chopped
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded, plus extra for garnish

Cook orzo according to package directions. Strain and set aside.

Heat olive oil in a medium-sized pot over medium heat. Add onions, garlic, salt and pepper and saute for 1 minute. Add flour to form a roux and cook for an additional minute.

Add milk and whisk to combine.
Bring to a simmer and cook until sauce has thickened, about 8 minutes.
Add chopped Broccoli to sauce and cook an additional 3 minutes or until Broccoli is done to your liking. I like mine Al Dente. Remove sauce from heat.

Stir parmesan cheese into sauce. When cheese has melted, add cooked orzo to sauce and toss to coat.
Garnish with extra Parmesan cheese and serve immediately.
