Simple Sweet and Saucy Meatballs and a $50 gift card winner!

I had the best weekend I have had in a long time. It was a long weekend because my birthday was Thursday. We decided to keep it going all weekend. Dinner and dancing, time with friends and the best time alone. I did not spend much time in my kitchen at all this weekend. It was a nice break. I love to cook, but sometimes it is nice to just get out of the usual rut and have a little fun! We did just that. I am sore from laughing and dancing and that is just the way it should be! I have seen so many posts on grape jelly meatballs. Sounded so gross to me. but hey, I figured if that many people were posting, then there must be something to it. I can't say for sure where I adapted it from. So many people have posted it. My recipe is not the same as anyone else's. No flour, no frozen meatballs. Still, thanks to all those out there that have made them.
I also was pleased this week to receive a list from Heinz that gave all their gluten free products. Turns out a huge majority of their sauces do not have gluten or any cross contaminated items. This made making these meatballs even easier. Because of all the playing and festivities. I did not get any good pictures. Sorry, sometimes you get what you get. This is VERY simple. I served it over rice, but they would also make good appetizers on a toothpick.

Simple Sweet and Saucy Meatball
1 jars Heinz chili sauce
1 jar grape jelly
2 lbs lean ground meat (turkey or beef)
1Tbs of gluten free Soy Sauce
1/4 cup chopped sweet onion
1 Tbs each of grated ginger
1 Tbs garlic
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 egg
olive oil
Put chili sauce and jelly in a large crockpot, heat on high until jelly is melted and sauce is smooth, stirring often.
While sauce is cooking make the meatballs. Mix meat, soy sauce, onion, ginger, garlic, cheese and egg together. Form 2" meatballs.
Add 1 TBSP olive oil to a skillet on medium high heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides, then set aside on a plate until you have finished cooking all the meatballs.
Add browned meatballs to the crockpot that has the sauce. Cook on high for 2 hours, stirring off and on to coat with sauce. Or cook on low for 4 hours stirring off and on to coat the meatballs with sauce.

I had a giveaway going this past week. You can view the post here:
