We eat a lot of fish. It helps that we live right by the bay and can get fresh fish caught daily. I love fish with tartar sauce, but I am picky. I do not like store bought tartar, so I make my own. It is a family favorite and I try to keep it on hand as much as possible. It is so easy to throw together. Make it! I bet you find you won't be heading to the store to buy the nasty kind at the store after you try it! The key here is FRESH herbs.
Gluten-Free Tartar Sauce
1/4 cup chopped baby dills
1 tablespoon chopped capers
1 medium shallot coarsely chopped
2 cups mayo
1/2 tsp dijion mustard
2 TB chopped fresh dill
2 TB chopped fresh chives
2 TB chopped fresh parsley
1 tsp fresh lemon juice
1/2 tsp white pepper
1/4 cup olive oil
Put everything in the blender with the exception of the baby dills. Blend until creamy, scraping down the sides of the blender to make sure it all gets in there good. Stir in dills. Put in glass or plastic container with lid in the fridge to store until you use. Tremendous with any fish!
I have been wanting a go-to tartar sauce recipe...I don't like store-bought either. Thanks...have a fab weekend!
