Crock Pot Applesauce

Yesterday my entire kitchen smelled like apple pie. It was because I decided to make a bunch of applesauce in my crock pot. Who needs expensive candles when all you need is a crock pot?!?! I ended up telling you all on facebook that was what was going on in my kitchen, and I had an overwhelming response of "likes" and "recipe please!" comments. So I moved the post that was going up today, and decided to not keep you guys in suspense any longer. It is apple season after all!
This has got to be the easiest recipe ever, so hop to it!

Gluten-Free Crock Pot Applesauce
adapted from Skinny Taste

8 granny smith apples
1 tsp fresh lemon juice
1 cinnamon stick
5 tsp brown sugar
Peel, core and slice the apples.
Add the sugar, lemon juice and cinnamon stick.
Set crock pot to low and cook for 6 hours. Stir apples occasionally, apples will slowly become a delicious applesauce. Remove cinnamon stick and use an immersion blender to blend until smooth or your desired consistency. If you don't have an immersion blender then you can use a mixer to get it to the consistency you want, but that will require you moving the cooked apples to a mixing bowl.

Store your applesauce in a jar in the fridge for 3 weeks, or you can use a proper canning method and store for up to a year.
