Wild Organic Rice
Today I had the pleasure of making NAOSAP Harvest Certified Organic Wild Rice.
I had no idea that Contrary to what many people believe, wild rice is not rice at all but a grass.I have never cooked with it before, so I carefully read the instructions on how to do it. In the end I opted to go ahead and use my rice cooker, knowing that I would have to drain off the rice in the end.
I wanted to make this with the indian food and knew it would make the perfect side dish with it. I was right.
1 cup wild rice
3 cups water
1 tsp salt
That is all I used, and the rice was amazing. I added the 3 ingredients to my rice cooker.
Cooked for 45 minutes.
Then I strained it.
It was cool because the house smelled like tea when i was cooking it. My husband even started to crave tea, so I made him some tea while he waited for dinner.
I love the texture of this rice. I ate too much. My husband said it was his favorite rice I made. I love how something easy can change the way a meal tastes. I served it with Chicken Masala.
